Sand Rock Farm, Santa Cruz Wedding | Scott & Liz

June 9, 2021 Real Weddings

From my first conversation with Liz, we just got along so well. She is super organized. Like sent me a spreadsheet with the names and pictures of all the guests kind of organized! I loved it! I mean, who doesn't love spreadsheets! Having been together for many years and a sweet daughter, Reagan; Scott and Liz had finally decided to make it official and get married.

Sand Rock Farm is a beautiful venue with a quaint Bed and Breakfast in the tranquil redwoods of Santa Cruz. Jen Haggelhof and her team were amazing! The flowers were done by Amanda Connors from Designs in Bloom. She and her crew transformed the Barrel room into a dream reception area. I especially loved the wooden place settings. They fit so well with all the surrounding redwood trees of the venue.

The two most important "weddingy things" to her were the flowers and cake. Amanda nailed the flowers! Their cake was as beautiful as it was delicious. Instead of the conventional cake topper, Scott & Liz had a Wonderwoman and a wolverine Funko Pop.

Scot and Liz had initially planned their wedding on 12/12/20. However, like many couples, they had to make changes because of COVID. They decided to still get married on their original date via zoom. They still wanted to celebrate in person, so they postponed the reception until May of 2021, when it was safe to celebrate with their family and friends. Liz described it as "everyone just took a really, really, really long time to get to the reception venue."

As a gift for all her wedding guests, we set up a beautiful lounge area with gorgeous sofas from Revival Rentals, where I took editorial-style family portraits. I soon learned what a fun bunch of family and friends Scot and Liz had. No wonder they wanted to celebrate together in person.

As the sun started setting behind the redwoods, the guest was invited into the barrel room for dinner. The food provided by Sand Rock Farm's chef was incredible! As they toast were going on, Reagan and her friend started handing out stickers to the guest sticking them on their faces. This soon became a fun game, and everyone ended up with stickers on their faces.

“From our very first call, I KNEW Danieka was the photographer for us. She was flexible -- and in an age of COVID and crazy planning, I can't stress ENOUGH how important flexibility and empathy has been -- and really focused on what WE wanted. Unlike other photographers we talked to, Danieka was more concerned about our style, our goals and what we wanted...so that she could bring ideas that would make every moment OURS.”
