5 Reasons why you should hire a wedding coordinator.
For most of us, planning a wedding is a new and challenging endeavor. Many online websites help you find vendors and get organized, like The Knot or Weddingwire. But let's face it, most of us have no idea what we are doing. Working in the wedding industry for nearly ten years now, I have learned many things, but the most important advice I can give my couples is to hire a wedding coordinator!
1.They will save you a lot of time and prevent a lot of stress.
Keeping track of all the different moving parts of a wedding is a juggling act. Doing it while being the bride on your wedding day is more like juggling flaming swords.
There are so many people involved, from the officiant, the catering, the florist, the photographer, and more. Then through your friends and family into the mix! Somehow grandmas and mothers always wander off to the bathroom during critical times on wedding days like the family photos. Leave it to your coordinator to track them down.
You do not want to be stressed out and frantically running around or making phone calls on your wedding day.
2. They have the experience.
For most of us, planning a wedding is our first experience with event organizing. Some people do this for their day jobs. I can always tell when a bride has experience with event management, but most don't.
Most wedding coordinators have done many weddings and have almost seen it all! They know the ins and outs, so you don't have to.
3. They will handle all the bumps in the road.
Unexpected things happen from time to time in life, but always on wedding days.
Wedding coordinators will spot the overlooked things and deal with any emergencies. Often time you will only hear about it after the wedding.
At my wedding, we had a room for the kids to hang out with someone to watch them. We had planned to serve the kids some pizza but forgot to order the pizza. While I was with my new husband on the dancefloor, my fantastic coordinator handled it without me even knowing. She arranged for pizza to be delivered from a local pizza place. I only found out the next day.
4.They will help keep things on track.
Weddings tend to run late. Running a few minutes late is no big deal, but it can quickly go from a few minutes to hours without a coordinator there to keep everyone on track. I have been at a wedding where the food was only served at 11 pm, and one where the bride was 2 hours late for the ceremony!
5.You will enjoy your day more!
This is probably the most important reason to hire a wedding coordinator. It's a cliche, but it is also true; your wedding day goes by so fast! Your main goal should be to take it all in, be present in the moment, and enjoy it! Leave the rest to your coordinator. It is your day, after all, so enjoy it!
I have worked with some fantastic coordinators all over the Bay Area that have made my job so much easier, but more importantly, they made the couple's day unforgettable. Here are a few that I have worked with and loved:
