Behind the Photo I

I often tell my husband about the little stories behind some of the pictures I take at weddings. Sometimes there is only a short small description and or a bit more background. Sometimes there is more, but there is always a story behind the photo. It's about time that I start writing these stories down. So here we go with Behind the Photo I.

I choose this photo as my first because it's where my two passions meet. Art & Photography. Having been a Fine Art student myself in college, I still have a deep love for fine art. One of my favorite memories is a day in Amsterdam. I spent with a group of friends who were all artists themselves. We spent the whole day in and out of the hidden and lesser-known art galleries that fill the alleyways of Amsterdam. It was pretty awesome.

Walking through the Holden Manz Country House brought back this memory of being almost overwhelmed with inspiration. Holden Manz is more than just a world-class winery with a fantastic restaurant! They are also big supporters of local artists. Their beautiful Country House is filled to the absolute brim with some of the best art I have seen!

Jean & Ventia also loved the art and were stoked to take some pictures inside this beautiful abode. My favorite is the portrait of them in front of Vanessa Berlein's work, A Portrait of Liza. She is a local South African artist. Her works are phenomenal. Go check her out!
