Bernardus Lodge Wedding, Carmel Valley | Diana & Stephen

December 10, 2021

Diana & Stephen had an intimate mid-day wedding ceremony at the beautiful Bernardus Lodge and Spa in Carmel Valley. They met on an online Christain dating app when Stephen was in the Bay Area on a Trip, and so we're in the same location and able to be connected. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I love Diana's classic white satin wedding gown. And Angie's gorgeous flowers were so beautiful I just had to use them in the shoes and wedding ring shot. Diana looked lovely in her cute bride robe. It was nice to see her getting ready with her mother and best friend, picking which earrings and other jewelry pieces to wear.

The rose garden at Bernardus lodge, with its picturesque views of the Carmel Valley and surrounded by beautiful, fragrant roses, is the perfect place for a mid-day wedding ceremony.  Angie did a fantastic job with the flowers on their wedding arch, and I especially loved the rose petals on the floor. Stephen couldn't help but shed some tears as he saw his beautiful bride walking down the aisle to him. A close family member officiated the intimate ceremony, and Diana's stepfather recited a wonderful poem he wrote for the couple. It could not have been a more perfect day.

The Pergola's in the rose garden provided us with some much-needed shade for portraits after the ceremony. The gardens at Bernardus Lodge are full of blooming flowers, buzzing bees, and singing birds. It's a pretty special place. I also couldn't resist taking some pictures under the beautiful arch Angie had set up.

For the reception, we moved to the shaded garden of the restaurant. The garden itself is beautiful, but Angie and her team made it even more magical. I especially loved the little Rusian doll favors at each place setting. Diana's best friend performed some songs at the wedding, including a beautiful number she wrote for Diana & Stephen.

One of the things Diana told me they were most looking forward to on their wedding day was their fists dance. They had learned a specially choreographed dance for their wedding day. After practicing it for weeks, they realized on the day that it might be more difficult with Diana's wedding gown. Needless to say, they pulled the dance off spectacularly! It was one of the best and most impressive first dances I have ever seen.

After the wedding Reception had concluded, I met Diana and Stephen at Garrapat State Park for sunset photos. This beautiful spot just south of Carmel Village down Highway one is a lovely secluded area with spectacular views but without the crowds of Point Lobos. We had a great time exploring the cliffs and watching the beautiful sunset.

Thank you to all the fantastic vendors who made this beautiful day possible!
